PASSENGER, pre "76" base

Passenger:  Up to 1975, Kansas issued plates yearly.  Beginning with the embossed "76" plate, renewal stickers were issued yearly after a new multiyear base was issued, the first year of expiration being embossed or screened onto the plate in the stickerwell.  Because Kansas county codes the plates, and, at times, includes a month code, there are a number of possible varieties.  I have a very nice (and large) selection of varieties, including the county and month codes.  So that downloading a Kansas passenger page doesn't overload your computer, I have split them into the following bases, each being a link to my website page of that type:

Pre "76" base (yearly issues)

embossed "76" base

"81" wheat base

1983 sunflower base

"89" wheat base

"95" wheat base

"02" capitol base

2007 state seal base

1970 (reflective white/turquoise) Gove County exc $5.00 "GO-191" (10890)

Passenger Month Codes:  Beginning with the 1971 plate, Kansas introduced staggered registrations for passenger plates using a month code letter following the stacked county code prefix.  Click to the Kansas passenger month code page to see this explanation and letter codes used.

1971 (reflective white/red) Sumner County, October m-original envelope $10.00 "SU S 1333" (10012)

1972 (reflective white/black) Sumner County, October m-original envelope $8.00 "SU S 1341" (10222)

1972 (reflective white/black) Washington County low #58, November vg $5.00 "WS V 58" (10666)

1973 (reflective yellow/green) Sumner County, February low #86 exc $10.00 "SU A 86" (10899)

1974 base:  The 1974 design was produced two ways.  The year "74" either followed the "KANSAS" at the top of the plate or was at the bottom of the plate accompanying the month of expiration.  In both designs, the letter following the stacked county code was a month-of-expiration code.  The 1975 plate was produced in one style, also with the month code letter following the stacked county code.  Click to Passenger Month Code to see this explanation and letter codes used.
